By day, I work as a buyer for a chain of hardware stores, taking care of several departments, including tools. It can be a lot of fun seeing and getting to play with all the new "stuff" that comes out, especially from the power tool companies. Unfortunately, it can also be hard on the wallet!

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time hunting, riding my motorcycle, playing bass guitar and doing home improvement projects. I took quite a few woodworking and drafting classes back in high school 20+ years ago, really enjoyed them and somehow even managed to win a few awards. (Lack of talent can be compensated for by having good teachers) Since then, those skills have deteriorated as I have spent more time doing remodeling and rough carpentry than fine woodwook and cabinetry.

I have finally been able to spend some time getting a (very small) shop set up and want to get back to more woodworking. After lurking on LJ for quite a while, it was apparent that I could learn a lot from the members here, as well as get quite a bit of inspiration for future projects.

Welcome Jay. You have found the right place for woodworking. A great group of people willing to help. Looking forward to see your projects and comments. Work safe in the shop and don’t forget to use pushsticks.
