Las Vegas, Nevada
United States

Finally got a one-car garage for a shop. The bandsaw has become the center of my operation and 95% of the time runs a 1/2” Lenox Trimaster. Recently installed a Tenryu 40 tooth and stabilizer on my little DeWalt that’s solved so many problems that I can’t justify upgrading my jobsite saw, which would also require a space sacrifice below where I keep the planer, and so I came up with a two-stage drawer-slide sled design and stole the top to my cross-cut sled for a jerry-rigged Euro-slider. Release the clamp and the sled swings out on one bolt to rip when needed.

To save space everything is doubled up: my little sliding miter saw above Kreg jig, jointer above belt sander, and table saw above planer. I’ve never had space for a real bench, and so I built a router table that duels as a workbench, and have a couple smaller secondary benches I can use when needed.

For dust I have a little Fein Turbo 1 that does the whole job connected to a bucket with a quick-and-dirty Thein baffle. I also have a Jet air filter and a Dylos laser counter, a small air compressor to clean up, and always use a face mask when cutting or sanding.

My most used hand tools are Stanley #4 SW plane, Japanese saw (can’t read the label!), and the most underrated tool in the shop, the rasp.

The biggest show stopper for me in woodworking is knowing I have to spend time with setup to move on to the next step for a project, and so I try to find ways to keep setup at a minimum given small shop constraints.
