hi SweetTea-

your profile is not filled out so I can’t tell if you are working from your garage, a commercial building, etc. but I’ll assume you are in a light industrial space since you mentioned you have 3 shapers and are looking to add a couple more. It sounds like this is your livelihood, and if that is true I would encourage you to take a look at woodweb.com if you are not already a member there. That group is not as active as this one, but it is largely professionals and I think you will get much better advice there then you will here. This is a great group, but it is mostly hobbyists that are not trying to make a living at their WWing. I’m in no way talking bad about this group, but I think you will get more appropriate answers to your questions over on woodweb.com since the member base is ‘in the biz’. check out their knowledge base, they do a good job of archiving good threads from the past and its easy to search.

I know the idea of outsourcing anything leaves a bad taste in many people’s mouths. But if this is your livelihood, I encourage you to seriously consider it as an option. Your competition has largely moved in that direction, and for good reason. It’s worth a call to Conestoga to talk to them about how they might be able to help you.

I hope my suggestions come across with the good intent I mean them, and good luck with your search!
