Ok, everyone has a bin for cut-offs and other scraps….never really find a use for them, right? From the Bed Frame Project…I was left with a lot of little pieces,,,and a bunch of shavings…most went out to the burn pit, to smoke away the skeeters…..I was left with these three things, way too big to burn.. 2×10 x 18” and one a tad longer. Was big enough, I had to clean the bench completely off… Amazing how fast a tool well fills up…I even...

Part 2: A day of planes, handplanes that is

Coughing jag last night, pulled a few things under the right shoulder blade…..might be a little limited today… Kept the size of the planes small…nothing bigger than a jack plane… Leg blanks were a mixed lot….needed planed to remove the saw marks, and try to get them all the same size…around 1” square. Beltsanding center to smooth the curved sections….finally got all four to match each other.. Not perfect, but they will do….even ...

Part 3: top is done, tenons as well

Still sore today, decided to try to get something done Like a few bevels?The other end grain bevel was done like the first one….also used a different #4.. A #4c model….Made in England.. Cuts a might deeper than the other Stanley #4 I have….Used the Millers Falls to get things close, then the final work done with the #4. Ok, ends are done, next was the long sides… This time, it was more of holding the plane at a”skew” and going along un...

Part 4: A glue up. and a PIP

trying to get this project done…before they start fixing me up…. So…wandered down to the shop Monday evening…I was just going to clean a saw up….got to looking at the project…decided to have a seat for a bit…and chop out the rest of the mortises…one thing led to another… Spread some glue, added some clamps, checked for square…...added a fifth clamp to pull things into square.. Laid out some blocks…to add to the corners...
