I am a 60 year old academic at Purdue University. I started woodworking when I was in graduate school, in part to make some extra money - building tables, bookshelves, and such for professors and other graduate students in my department. For the most part, due to moves and kids and houses without the space, I put woodworking on hold for the better part of 10-15 years. 6 years ago we built a new house on a property that already had a barn. I finally had a place for a shop! The projects I post here are my way of getting back into this hobby that I love - slowly and with lots of mistakes.

Update: well, I retired from Purdue this year. Within two months we moved to Maryland to be near our grandkids. Traded my shop in the barn for a room in the basement. Hope to build a building for the shop this coming year. In the meantime I am making smaller pieces.
