74 y/o, finally retired this year. Have dabbled in woodworking for many years, mostly to accomplish utilitarian projects for home, and occasionaly work. Now for a number of years, I have been more focused on woodworking as a hobby. Easy to tell how long that has been the case. Check how many days I have been on LJ's, divide by 365, and you got it. This was one of the first places I found when I got more involved.

I am not too ambitious. I use some older power tools and some new smaller inexpensive tools. I have a Craftsman radial arm saw 1971 vintage, in good condition. It has become a 90 degree crosscut specialist, however. Also in the older category, a 1990 Delta contractor's saw. Many of my other power tools are newer, but not industrial strength. I share a 20x20 space with some furnaces and some general storage.

I have no particular interest, but have finally made some small, but real woodworking pieces. I enjoy fixing up the shop, making jigs, and designing shop fixtures. I have a smaller shop in my vacation home in northern Washington state.

Well, that is quite a welcome. Found this forum searching for solutions to some issues as I started upgrading the shop, and thought it would be a good source of information and camaraderie.

I checked out some of the threads, such as “You know you’re LumberJock if/when…”. That made me wonder…would I fit in. Am I … er, ah …. crazy enough, you know…obsessed.

Then realizing that yesterday a dumped a whole quart ($15) of Watco into the bottomless pit of MDF that is my new radial arm table, and that I have decided it will look much better if I edge it in oak…

It’s obvious that I will fit right in.

Jim
