We had a Shop Art Swap that’s just wrapping up now, and I made this mini workbench with tools in a lit shadowbox and turned it into a clock. It was fun, and I think the first swap item that my wife actually wanted to keep…

Stanley #3 for size scale, the shadowbox is 9”x11”, and the workbench is 6” long (not including boards hanging off).

The top/back are also removable as one thing, in case the glass or clock need to be replaced

Incredible work, Mos, and a cool idea.
I may have to commission a clock for my shop?

Thanks guys!

Terry, you’ll have to get in line behind one for my own shop :-P It was quite fun to make. I was exceptionally proud of the 3 mini planes, and hold fasts lol

Mos, give me a shout when you want some tiny infill knobs or heat-treated irons.
Hope they don’t get lost in the packaging.
:)

I’m guessing that might work better than the 6061 aluminum plane iron in the jack plane! (also the fact that it doesn’t protrude through the bottom/there is no mouth on the plane doesn’t help lol)

When I see this I get three words in my mind …... Attention To Detail!
Nice work. This has to be the most unusual shop clock out there.

Might not be such a bad thing :-P Originally I wanted to get mini wall sconce lights to light the workbench instead of the LED strip in the top panel, but the only place I could find them were for doll houses, and they weren’t very cheap…

Coming from someone who does the level of marquetry that you do, I’m humbled by that. Thanks!
