Today I finished this full-size baby cradle, made from poplar wood with a clear polyurethane finish and a star cutout on both ends. The cradle is 41 inches long by 21 inches wide by 26 inches high. The rockers are 35 inches wide. The cradle has a rope bottom and a three-inch-thick dense foam mattress with a soft fleece cover that has a zipper for easy removal and laundering. As an extra touch, I attached a wooden “awning” that can be flipped back out of the way, or forward if you want to drape a light blanket over it to keep the sun out of baby’s eyes or cheesecloth netting to keep the bugs from biting.
