This is a coffee table which I designed and built. The base is Walnut and the top is Myrtle.

The top was a slab which was a coffee table in the family going back to before I was born. I resurrected it from a closet and made this.

The base is very narrow to accomodate the large “bay” in the live edge. The legs are carved from a solid piece of wood and splayed outward to gain some stability.

The finish is Sam Maloof oil/poly the top is finished with shellac.

Beautiful piece of wood. Interesting design with the curved legs.

Beautiful looking table. The figure in the wood is stunning and the profile of the top is unique. I like the splayed legs. Nice work!

Trackeng, you did well making this irregularly shaped piece of wood into a aesthetically balanced table. It looks great.

Wow. How did you get such a gloss on the shellac? French polish?

Love that Myrtle top. Nice piece, thanks for posting.

Maybe the nicest of the let’s use what Mother Nature left us to work with pieces I’ve seen in a while.
