Built this over a month, its an original design. The legs are 4×4 Douglas fir, the framing is 2×4 pine, the sides and bottom are Cedar. Total cost was about $170. The sides all sit in dado’s, the bottom sits on a frame. The frame is dado’d in.

I did not finish it in any way.

This thing is currently about as heavy as my car. HAH. Thx for looking.

Nice planter.

Please tell us about the bottom—for instance, how can it be replaced or repaired when it gives up the ghost?
I ask because I’m planning to build about a dozen raised beds for my bride and haven’t figured this part of the construction myself.
Thanks

Hi Gary, thanks. All the bottom pine framing is underneath the cedar, so i am hoping that it will last because it will be slightly less exposed. But it is pine. I guess if the bottom is the first to go, I could take out those pieces of cedar, buy a new 1×8 of cedar, and cut and resize new boards.

I have a feeling that it wont be the cedar that goes first, but time will tell.
