Cherry Hall table

My wife told me to make a table or two so ignoring thee stupid tattoo on my forehead I made a couple. Unfortunately I’m not at all adept at mortise and tennon joinery. Ok, truth be known I’m not good at it at all. But I do have a Kreg pocket hole fixture and have become fairly good with it.
I had some nice flat cherry but it was only 10” wide so I cleaned it up and laminated 2 strips of walnut to the length of the table making it 12” wide and 48” long. I’ve always had difficulty with legs but I decided to laminate a 5/8” walnut plank between 2 pieces of cherry that I milled to 3/4” each. Then I dadoed a 5/8” strip and glued walnut in the opposing sides of the legs.
In making the skirts I decided they needed walnut to bring it all together so I inlaid 2 strips of walnut in the side and end skirts.
My object was to display the table in a small gallery where I have some of my bowls. Well, the table made it inside the store, was purchased by the owner and delivered by me to her home.
So I guess I need to start another table.

Thanks for looking and if anybody can help me with mortise and tennon for dummies, I’d be happy to listen

Oh – almost forgot. The walnut slab in the picture has been laying around for several years and I’ve been ignoring it. To my surprise it was FLAT, no cupping, no bowing so I made a coffee table using hairpin legs.

Wow, beautiful tables, very nice work. I especially like the cherry with walnut, really nice feature.

Those are some good looking tables. I like the walnut accents on the cherry table.

Cherry walnut is one of my favorite wood combinations. It’s subtle. And you made a very unique piece! I’m like you, I haven’t mastered mortise and tenon yet but the kreg jig is nice.
