First attempt at a bowl from a board in plywood, cutting the circles was a bit rough, but kind of like that it’s not all perfectly smooth, 12”diameter, 4”deep, stained the underside with a dark walnut stain.

Nice one Dianne, like the effect of the rippled top and contrasting stain. Having to much fun.

I usually do NOT like plywood; your beautiful work has changed that opinion!

Great looking chip bowl. Now you have to make the accompanying dip bowl!

So jigsawed out circles, and glued and sanded, or glued and turned?

Nice look, I agree that it’s rough is a plus, adds character.

Thanks for posting another nice piece.

Steve, partially jigsaw and part scroll saw, then glued and sanded, my cuts were pretty rough, so lots of sanding

Hi Diane
I’ve made a few bowls with the scroll saw just the way you have dead round is the hardest one to get to look good as you are comparing against turners so I try to make then every shape but round heart shaped long oval shaped or just odd shaped they seem to sell quite well too
Never used plywood but it looks really good great work thanks for posting

Beautiful work Diane!!!

Plywood is a very interesting wood to work with. You did a splendid job in cutting and assembling the circles .
I have only made one bowl like that, but you have inspired me to attempt another one. Did you find that the nice flat surface of the ply was a huge advantage in cutting the circles? just got to remember where the blade is when it pops out of the wood. Great project, look forward to seeing more of them.

Regards,

Cliff
