Earlier I had posted a project of which I termed Fun Boxes. Not having any name, I just picked that word. Now thinking about it I’ll give it the term dresser box. These sit on top of dressers, holding watches, jewelry, wallets, money clips, gift cards, store receipts, etc. These are a little smaller version of previous boxes posted. I like the walnut base with lids of different species. I have a spalted maple and oak lid. Those are my favorite. I then had some purple heart so I used it for a lid with a maple base. These are great gift ideas.

Interesting construction. Can’t say I have seen a small box like that. How do you attach the bottom to the sides?

Thanks for posting.

The sides are exactly 3/4 inch from the edge of the bottom. I cut two scrap pieces the same width as the side and end. I turn it upside down use the scrap pieces as a guide where I can center the sides to the base. Measure in 1 3/8 inches from the edge of the base, make a couple of marks to make a straight line running the length of the base. I then use a nail gun to nail the base to the sides. The 3/4 scrap pieces are my key to making sure that I have centered correctly and the nail goes in the center of that 3/4 inch walnut side.
