I realize board foot price for poplar maybe specific on price based on location but what are you paying per board foot for poplar. Cheapest I have found in the Carolina’s is $2.25 per board foot.

No way I’d pay $2.25 BF for poplar. It’s mass produced (tree farms) and the broad leaf gives it it’s “hardwood” classification. But it’s glorified Pine. It’s as soft as pine and behaves like Pine minus the sap but is full of the resin. I hate it.

That’s average price from a mill in PA. Most of the time, I get rough cut for a $1 or less.

Sounds about the same here in KY (by Louisville) as well. Ranges from $2.10-$2.50 for 4/4.

Do you shop at Highlandhardwoods in NH? That’s the same price list as I have.

It’s been a few years, but according to my receipt (New Mexico), I paid

$1.51/bf 4/4 rough
$1.72/bf 6/4 S2S

This was for any width (I have a few at 16”) and 16’ length

I pay exactly the same, and seeing the qs on there I’m assuming it’s from Chris.

About 30 miles farther south it’s $1.65 (might have been 1.85) for any length width or thickness of FAS retail from the mill. I think #1 common was $1.25.

Prices went down from there with quantities and kd or green as an option.

Just paid $1.60 / bd. ft. 4/4 rough, kiln dried. Could get any width I wanted. Some boards as wide as 14”. All very nice straight stock. Probably a good 1-1/8” thick. Here in Central Pennsylvania.

Amazing, you guys complaining about the price of Poplar.
I think the last time I checked it was about $3.50 a BF up here.
Americans dont know how cheap things down there are till you shop up here.
