Hello everyone!

I am working on a mappa burl piece that will eventually be a ‘river’ style table. I have flattened the piece and cut it in half. Before i pour all the epoxy for the river i was thinking of filling all the small voids with clear epoxy; and this is where i was looking for some insights.

My thought here is to use the same ‘Ecopoxy Liquid Plastic’ to fill the voids. I will put tuck tape on the bottom side fill the voids group by group and then come back and top them off. I figure with the liquid plastic it has a long pot time allowing me more time to be meticulous. (which i most often am)

Sound like a good plan? I have seen the ebony epoxy to fill the voids as well and it looks quite nice! So i was hoping to get some opinions based on what others have done with mappa burls and what you may find worked / looked best.

thanks everyone!

Clear or add some dye to the epoxy to match the wood. Depends on your personal taste and the effect you want.

Welcome to lj.

Thanks!
I did end up using just clear. Basically just did 3 or 4 seal coats and then did the flood coat I’ll post some pictures shortly. It turned out quite nice. And! Being a novice I learnt alllllot! Lol
