Have the above RAS. Was cutting the other day and stopped the saw for a new set up. Hit the start switch afterwards and nothing. As if I had unplugged it. So I went through all steps with the cap etc.. cont checks etc.. I got down to the over load switch. As you can see in the pic, I have 3 terminals. If I jump across 1 and 3 the motor starts up as usuall. This part cant not be found as I have searched high and low. My question is how does terminal 2 in the pic tie into the switch. I know the red wire runs from T2 back to the start winding which in turn goes back to the cap.
I was thiking to tie the 2 wires from T1 and T3 together but not sure what thats going to do to my T3 wire back to the cap.

Thoughts? Anyone have a wiring diagram lol. Cant find anything for parts anymore on this saw.

Looks like a typical Klixon thermal overload switch, or otherwise known as a Phenolic motor protector. Get the # off the switch and you should be able to find a replacement. Here is what the innerds look like for one that burnt out the heater element (from a previous owner who wired it wrong):

The bi-metal thermal element and push button are removed in that picture, but go between what would be #1 and #3 in your picture (above the heating element).

PS: There are two types – automatic reset and manual reset. You should have a manual reset type on that saw, as you do not want it starting up unexpectedly after an overload.

Great. Upon searching I found that they used Klixon D157. Ill research more tomorrow.

I assume you cleaned the centrifugal starter switch.

sometimes just a small piece of sandpaper and 5 mins to clean contacts will fix a problem like this Lew is very correct :<))

If I take the switch above out of the equation, the motor runs as should. Yes I have cleaned everything that I can get my hands on. lol.

Thinking of maybe adding a quick blow fuse in lieu of the Klixon switch if I cant find one that will work. I have emails sent out to different companies as well as some guys on Ebay that sell RAS parts….

Another option—I see these pop up on craigslist all the time. If you can find one for under $100, you can buy it and take the switch off, then send in the motor & carriage for the $100 recall. It doe take like 6 weeks though.

Yeah I have 1 its 4 hrs away. 85.00. He does not want it. Last resort ill drive I it. Ive emailed a few Com. that see these to see if I can get a possible alternative match

Found the switch online. klixon CGJ65EB and ordered it last night out of CA from carbonbrush.com

Hopefully this fixes me up. Love my RAS even though most hate them lol

~~~UPDATE~~~~ In case someone searches for the same problem Ill throw in an update. The Thermal switch I ordered fixed my RAS. its good “new” now.
